Paddington Kitchen

Nestled in the bustling heart of Paddington, Sydney, a quintessential Victorian terrace has been transformed to meet the needs of its busy, professional homeowners. With teenage children and two dogs, this family leads an active inner-city lifestyle, cherishing traditional well-crafted furniture, antiques, and a passion for cooking. One homeowner, an accomplished chef with a history working in high-end restaurants, envisioned a home kitchen that any professional chef would be proud of. The result is a stunning kitchen renovation that seamlessly blends functionality and elegance, executed by the talented team at Dan Kitchens.
The original kitchen was a cramped area that shared space with a lounge and TV setup, making both areas feel insufficient. The homeowners decided to dedicate the entire room to a luxurious kitchen while still preserving a comfortable lounge area. Despite this clear vision, they struggled with how to bring it to life until they discovered Dan Kitchens.
Industrial Designer Daniel Mazic led the project, collaborating closely with the homeowners to conceptualise, problem-solve, and refine the space. The design team at Dan Kitchens provided realistic 3D renderings, which were instrumental in visualising the final outcome and ensuring every detail was perfect.
Significant structural modifications were required, including the removal of a central steel load-bearing column, replaced by a 5.5-meter steel beam to create an unobstructed, open space. To enhance natural light, Daniel suggested adding two more skylights to complement the existing one, transforming what was once a dark area into a bright, inviting space.
Incorporating a large TV into the kitchen design posed a unique challenge. The TV’s position and height had to be carefully calibrated to ensure it complemented the space without overpowering it. After extensive testing, a perfect balance was achieved, integrating the TV seamlessly into the room’s layout.
