The Danish cabinetmaker Vagn Madsen founded Dan Kitchens in 1984. Originally at a small factory warehouse in Smithfield, with success, the fledgling family-owned company moved to a purpose built facility at Seven Hills in 1988. Although tastes and styles have changed since then, the Dan Kitchens team has always dedicated itself to producing luxury kitchens the Danish way; utilising the best materials, partnered with fine craftsmanship.

Dan Kitchens works all over Sydney and surrounding regions, with numerous kitchen renovations and new kitchens projects completed in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Hills District, and the Inner West. Further afield, the Dan Kitchens team has worked on occasion in more distant regions in NSW, depending on the scope of the project.

There is no one named “Dan” at Dan Kitchens. The “Dan” is short for Danish, and along with the Danish flag, is included in the Dan logo to show both pride and heritage of Dan Kitchens’ Danish origin.

Dan Kitchens design team comprises of an accredited interior designer, 2 industrial/product designers, and a Danish cabinet-maker with 40+ of years experience. The Dan Kitchens Design Studio are also long-term members of the Design Institute of Australia.

Dan Kitchens manufactures its own luxury kitchens at its own facility in Seven Hills. Unlike much of the industry, this includes the making of timber joinery elements, the lacquering of doors (polyurethane), and the installation. For other components such as stone benchtops and appliances, Dan Kitchens partners only with the best.

Unlike much of the kitchen industry, the installation team at Dan Kitchens are company employees of Dan Kitchens. They are not sub-contracted nor paid per cabinet. The installation team’s goal is to ensure your luxury kitchen is installed and completed to Dan Kitchens’ high standard, this includes overseeing all other trades when on site. 

We don’t sell appliances directly, but we provide detailed advice and guidance. Our designers can also accompany you to an appliance showroom to help with selection.

For most companies, it takes only a couple days for kitchen cabinet installation. At Dan Kitchens, because our modern luxury kitchens are bespoke, up to 5 days is allocated for this stage. Once the kitchen cabinets are in position the stone mason will first measure the benchtops and/or splashbacks, fabricate them from slabs at the factory, and lastly install the benchtops and/or splashbacks. This process takes roughly 2 weeks.

The overall kitchen installation time will be different from project to project, and is often affected by the complexity of the project; the number of trades involved and the scale of the project.

Yes. We handle removal and disposal of your old kitchen and manage every stage of the renovation. Our team coordinates all trades and supervises works on site to ensure a seamless process.

Dan Kitchens has been supporting its customers with industry leading service for over 40 years. If a part breaks, your luxury kitchen is damaged, or you need modifications to your Dan kitchen, the Dan Kitchens team can assist.

The Dan Kitchens team will only modify kitchens that they have made in the first place. For other brands, homeowners are advised to get in touch with the original manufacturer.
