Randwick Kitchen

The clients came to Dan Kitchens with the ambition to modernise their cramped kitchen and open plan space. Working closely with the builder, the home undertook an extensive internal renovation that saw walls removed and realigned and flooring redone in order to adapt the space to the desired layout.

Integral to the plan was Dan Kitchens design for an open plan kitchen encompassing a timber island, cooking area and a long wall of tall joinery. The long wall conceals away a few important features, including a pantry, appliance niche and a doorway through to to a laundry, second bathroom and garage. A mixed colour and material scheme works together to create a modern and sophisticated living space.

Contrasting colours of warm American Oak versus cool grey give this kitchen a sense of drama.

Colour-bleached, timber plank tiles provide texture.

The cooking area features a large Ilve upright cooker. A finely veined man-made stone splashback adds a little texture between two white surfaces.

The standout of the kitchen is the American Oak timber island.

Bi-fold doors hide an appliance niche.

Also hidden is a doorway that leads through to the laundry, second bathroom and garage.

Push-catch doors to the front side of the island house practical storage space – ideal for table items.

Timber peg drawer, ideal for storing dinnerware.

Dark, matt coloured taps. The one on the right is a ZIP hot/cold water unit.
