Tucked away in a quiet suburban street, between workers’ cottages and federation era homes, is our Northmead Kitchen. This contemporary kitchen project began life as a couple’s desire for more space, connection and functionality within their century-old home. At the time, the home featured a traditional layout with modest-sized rooms and a kitchen separated from the living space. The homeowners wanted a new kitchen design with a greater connection to the living spaces, this was achieved by reconfiguring the rear of the house.
Working mostly within the original footprint, they conceived a large combined kitchen, dining and living space with 4 metre high ceilings, laundry, bathroom and outdoor entertaining area. It was around the time of construction that the homeowners approached Dan Kitchens. Although plans had been drawn up for DA, the homeowners needed someone they could trust to help achieve their grand ambitions and succinctly make the most of the available space.
Using the Dan Kitchens Design Service, the couple collaborated with Daniel Mazic, first by creating a detailed brief. Foremost, the couple desired a traditional and luxurious aesthetic but with the functionality and durability of a contemporary kitchen. After getting a detailed brief, appliance wishlist and measurements, Daniel went about designing the contemporary kitchen within the space provided – paying particular attention to the layout, how the kitchen would interact with the larger space, proportions, panel profiling, edge details, accessibility, fittings and materials. Daniel’s new kitchen design infused a lot of period charm and refinement into the contemporary kitchen. With the aid of a photo-realistic image of the design, the homeowners could see exactly what Daniel was proposing.
The couple was very happy with the proposal and appointed Dan Kitchens to handle all aspects of the new kitchen design and build, including construction, specification, trades and installation. Daniel Mazic remained involved in the project with the construction and installation phase primarily managed by Dan Kitchens Production Manager – Greg Gibson. The project was installed by Dan Kitchens’ own Installation Team and was completed on time. The homeowners are ecstatic with what was achieved together. The large addition to the rear of their home is an amazing space to be in. It’s altogether functional, homely and luxurious.
For over 40 years, the Dan Kitchens luxury kitchen showroom has brought Scandinavia’s best designs to life. Sydney’s most refined custom kitchens and sophisticated joinery are custom made in the adjoining production complex.
