The clients approached Dan Kitchens in 2017 with the idea to modernise their kitchen within their Mosman home. The home was built many years ago by a previous generation of the family with respectful additions built in the intervening years. The homeowners wanted to enlarge the existing footprint of the kitchen space, open it up more to natural light and include a walk-in pantry. Dan Kitchens had built the pre-existing kitchen in the early 2000s, and whilst it was in a serviceable condition, it no longer supported the family’s need for more space.
The homeowners worked with the Dan Kitchens Design Team who devised a larger and modern kitchen layout incorporating a large island, walk through pantry, fridge niche and generous cooking and cleaning zones along the back wall. The new kitchen design has a unique palette of materials, including a large feature wall of tiles, American oak crown-cut joinery, Caesarstone benchtops (Rugged Concrete) and dark satin polyurethane doors.
Although signed off in 2017, this kitchen renovations in Mosman was put in hibernation while the builder and homeowner got the extension plans approved by the local council. In the meantime, the builder spent considerable time sourcing materials for the project, including flying to Melbourne to visit a well-regarded manufacturer of steel doors and windows, which features several times in the final design. After lengthy consultation with Mosman Council, the project was greenlighted, and building work commenced in 2020. Once the builder had almost completed the extension, Dan Kitchens check-measured the space to see if it had been built to our specifications and for fine-tuning their production drawings.
For over 40 years, the Dan Kitchens luxury kitchen showroom has brought Scandinavia’s best designs to life. Sydney’s most refined custom kitchens and sophisticated joinery are custom made in the adjoining production complex.
