Killarney Heights Kitchen

Located in the northern Sydney suburb of Killarney Heights, this modest family home underwent extensive renovations to transform it into a practical family home and an entertainer’s paradise. Dan Kitchens was set the challenge of combining multiple rooms together to create one uniform and flowing space. The areas consisted of an expansive kitchen, scullery, laundry and bar area. The vision for the space was to open the rear of the home by removing and reconfiguring a significant number of internal walls to create a large plan kitchen.

Adding to the functionality and practicality, the purpose-built scullery and laundry where designed to fit seamlessly into the space but also have the ability to be hidden away at the close of a door. Enhancing the kitchen space and located close to the outdoor dining area is the bar area, designed to work with the flow of the kitchen space and harmoniously integrate the indoor and outdoor spaces. The kitchen style is a mix of traditional and modern influences, reflecting the clients taste for the eclectic. The detailed and intricate veneer work couples well with the shaker style panels to create a warm and inviting feel. The marble look stone benchtops and splashbacks complement the overall look and add to the level of sophistication.

The rear of the home was reconfigured and opened up to create a combined kitchen and bar area, with laundry and scullery easily accessible in the adjoining rooms.

Traditional cast iron AGA range adds to the eclecticism of the kitchen.

The scullery is directly off the kitchen and is ideal for benchtop appliances.

Although the scullery is hidden behind a door, it is finished to the same level of detail as the kitchen, complete with a stainless steel benchtop.

The bar is ideally situated next to the outdoor entertaining area.

Lots of refining and customisation has gone into this kitchen. Pictured is a custom wine drawer with glass face.

Although the kitchen and bar are combined, thought has gone into how the two are visually divided into discrete zones.
