Set in the peaceful surrounds of Elanora Heights on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, this kitchen renovation was part of a broader home transformation for a couple of empty nesters looking to rejuvenate the home they originally built in the 1990s. While the property itself had aged gracefully, the kitchen no longer reflected their lifestyle or needs. The solution was a complete redesign and extension of the space, seamlessly integrating modern functionality with the timeless charm of its idyllic setting.
The home sits on a sprawling plot where geese, chickens and sheep roam freely – a country lifestyle just minutes from the coast. Inspired by this unique blend of rural and coastal living, the design strikes a careful balance between contemporary elegance and traditional country warmth.
While the styling is unmistakably modern, the clients opted for thoughtful touches that honour the rural setting: a grand upright cooker, a generous rangehood, a classic pot filler, and warm timber elements that add depth and texture. These features not only enhance the kitchen’s visual appeal but also ensure it remains practical for everyday use.
The home is set on an acreage surrounded by farm animals, you would not believe you're in the Northern Beaches.
Country cooking has never been better with an upright Wolf oven and a Qasair Maitland rangehood.
A window splashback provides not only great lighting when cooking, but a watchful view of the animals.
The kitchen was designed with practicality and storage in mind, with durable, easy to clean surfaces and plentiful drawers.
The colours and textures of this kitchen create a homely atmosphere, while stainless steel appliances like the Sub-Zero fridge pair well together.

The Galley Ideal Workstation 5S sink, custom welded into the stainless steel benchtop.
Stainless Steel D style handles continue the stainless steel theme.
One of the standouts of this kitchen is the Cristallo Patagonia Quartzite.

A standout feature of this kitchen is the exquisite Cristallo Patagonia quartzite stone, sourced from Brazil. Its surface is alive with movement – clouds of warm greys and earthy browns swirl across the stone, punctuated by soft creams and glimmers of gold. In places, the material becomes semi-translucent, revealing the intricate natural structure within. This striking stone anchors the entire design, delivering both drama and sophistication.
No detail was spared when it came to fittings and appliances. Premium brands such as Sub-Zero, Wolf, The Galley, V-Zug, Qasair, Artinox and Zip ensure top-tier performance and longevity, perfectly complementing the high-end craftsmanship that defines every Dan Kitchens project.
This Elanora Heights kitchen is a perfect example of modern rural luxury – refined, functional and deeply connected to its surroundings (and its pet sheep).
