Previous clients of Dan Kitchens Australia returned with a new, far more ambitious project than their last collaboration — a whole house renovation of a well-positioned, harbourfront apartment in Sydney’s Cremorne Point. The scale of the project called for the involvement of the builder and an interior designer. The clients’ brief was to turn this large, modern-styled apartment into something straight out of the Hamptons, with finely detailed joinery, high-end appliances, traditional nickel plated fittings and natural marble benchtops throughout.
No room was to be left untouched while everything was planned and designed down to the smallest detail. So as to get the most of each room, Dan Kitchens Australia coordinated heavily with all involved, particularly with regular meetings with client and builder. Dan Kitchens designed joinery for over a dozen rooms, including a kitchen, TV unit, multiple wardrobes (built-in and walk-in), bathrooms, laundry and home office. All the joinery was detailed in their Hamptons style, with subtle variations between rooms providing opportunities for personality and expression. In the end, all stakeholders had come together, transforming this unassuming apartment into a little piece of the Hamptons on Sydney harbour.

The built-in TV unit on the opposite side to the kitchen. Mesh to the fronts of some of the doors allows the sound from hidden speakers to be heard. Additionally, the mesh allows heated air to escape generated from the hardware within.

The guest bathroom upstairs. The raked ceiling was challenging to design around and needed some creative thought in to how each room should be best laid out.
The laundry, often the least thought about room, was given the same attention to detail and quality of materials and fittings as the whole apartment.

The new owners of the apartment saw plenty of potential in their recent purchase and were not content to settle for just a basic refresh. The owners wanted to bring a little piece of the Hamptons to Sydney harbour.
The Hamptons style kitchen complete with calacatta marble, detailed doors, nickel fittings and a fireclay sink.
Appliances were integrated behind doors where possible to prevent the appearance being too cluttered. This section includes a Sub-Zero refrigerator, wine storage and Gaggenau Combi Oven.

The completed renovation carries a consistent Hamptons-inspired joinery language throughout the apartment, from the kitchen and living areas to wardrobes, bathrooms, laundry and home office. Coordinating the joinery across more than a dozen rooms allowed materials, proportions and detailing to remain consistent while still giving each space its own function and character.
