A renovated semi-detached waterfront terrace overlooking Cabarita Bay, redesigned for an empty-nester couple and their beloved dog, Gracie.
Originally built in the early 2000s, the existing kitchen felt clunky and disconnected from the way the owners wanted to live. Designer Daniel Mazic reworked the spatial planning, introducing new walls and refining circulation while carefully working within the constraints of the existing structure.
A striking kitchen defined by bold natural stone, fluted detailing, and a statement curved brass rangehood that balances refinement with understated luxury.
There is no other way to describe this kitchen than lively. Vivid green joinery, flowing green-veined quartzite, fluted Tasmanian Oak detailing and speckled terrazzo flooring combine to create a space full of energy and warmth.
At the centre of the home is a long entertaining island with seating for four, framed by leathered Calacatta Davinci Quartzite. Behind black steel framed fluted glass doors sits a generous scullery — a calmer, highly practical zone for preparation, coffee making, breakfast routines, and keeping entertaining mess out of sight.
Rather than using traditional overhead cabinetry, Daniel opted for a statement box rangehood set against a striking wall of veined quartzite, giving this kitchen renovation openness while allowing the natural stone to become a defining feature. Premium Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances reinforce the kitchen’s entertaining focus, while matching joinery continues through to the adjoining laundry.

Designer Daniel Mazic provided spatial planning on this project, changing the layout to include a scullery and kitchen island within the same overall space.
The kitchen mirrors elements from the surrounding space, including the tassie oak contours.
The far end of the kitchen houses a 122cm Sub-Zero Classic refrigerator, Wolf 76cm M Series Double Oven and a pantry with internal drawers.

Hidden behind the kitchen, is the scullery. It matches the same design and materials as the kitchen.
Behind black steel framed fluted-glass doors, the scullery provides a calm and highly functional extension of the kitchen. Designed to support entertaining, it houses additional preparation space, integrated appliances, generous storage, and a secondary sink, allowing everyday clutter and meal preparation to remain tucked away from the main living areas. The vivid green joinery continues through the space, paired with leathered Calacatta Davinci Quartzite and brushed gold detailing to maintain continuity with the kitchen. Beyond practicality, the scullery also improves the overall flow of the home, creating a seamless transition through to the adjoining laundry while preserving the clean, open feel of the main kitchen.

Looking into the laundry from the adjoining scullery.
The adjoining laundry continues the same design language established throughout the kitchen and scullery, creating a seamless transition between spaces. Finished in Dulux “Bay Leaf” cabinetry with brushed gold handles and speckled terrazzo flooring, the room feels integrated rather than secondary. Full-height storage maximises functionality, while the stacked washer and dryer arrangement frees up valuable floor space and maintains clean, uncluttered lines. A generous work surface and top-mounted sink support everyday practicality, with under-cabinet lighting adding softness and refinement. Though highly functional, the laundry was designed with the same level of consideration as the main entertaining spaces, ensuring continuity throughout the home.
Plenty of storage is this laundry, and beautiful task lighting.
